    An army officer of Rashtriya Rifles was shot dead by a soldier on Tuesday following an altercation between the two in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, according to media reports.

    An Indian army officer identified as Major Shikhar Thapa of 71 Armed Regiment presently posted with 8/ Rashtriya Rifles was killed by a fellow soldier in argument over use of mobile phone in Uri area of Baramulla district. It said that the major scolded the soldier after he was found using his mobile phone on duty.

    In 2014, an army soldier killed five of his colleagues and later killed himself at an army camp in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir.

    The soldiers belonged to the 13 Rashtriya Rifles and were posted at the Mansabal camp.
