  • Horrifying Footage As Woman Smashes Into The Ground On Bungee Jump

Bungee jumping is a terrifying experience, and one where your life is in the hands of the instructors. Very rarely does something go wrong, but when it does, it's consequences can be severe.

One bungee jumper, seen smiling prior to her fall, had such an experience. She crashed into a shallow river after the stunt turned sour, very quickly.

The woman jumped from a bridge, following a countdown, but instead of bouncing back away from the water, she slammed into it, and the ground below. The rope, it is believed, was too long for the attempted jump.

Thankfully, and somewhat remarkably, she survived without any broken bones.

Disturbing footage of the jump captured the sound of the crash as the women smacked into to shores of the river below the bridge.

She was left unable to move and could only open her eyes after the accident, as witness called for help and two went into the water to help her.

The incident took place on La Negra Two bridge, on a road between Santa Cruz and Cocabamba in central Bolivia.

Shyrleny Ribera was in the area with her family and witness what happened, from the fall to seeing her crash into the river bed.

"We were in the area and approached there to look at it," she said. "It is not very common to see this kind of sport in the area.

"We saw the lady jumping and, for unknown reasons, she ended up crashing against the river ground, as it was not deep enough."

Ribera claims that nobody was certain of the woman's condition, with people heard shouting 'I do not think she is fine.'

Speaking to local media, Ribera said that she and her family raced to the nearest town to call an ambulance as the woman could not move on her own, not could she open or close her eyes.

"It was so sad to see a young woman agonising in this way," she continued. "They should have taken more care to do this kind of risky activities."

Andean Trek, the company that organised the experience, transferred the young woman to a private clinic and paid all her medical bills. She was, fortunately, discharged.

First analysis showed that she did not have any fractures, although further tests are likely to follow.

The company's director, Oscar Sandoval, claimed that it was the first time this had ever happened on his watch, and said: "It was a human mistake, somebody did something wrong. We are checking the videos in order to know who, or what, released the brake of the rope."

There is no denying how fortunate the girl is.
