Samsung users have had a taste of Virtual Reality platforms with its Oculus partnered Gear VR but it was about time they had the option to try out other versions.

Google has finally rolled out its Daydream VR platform for the iconic Samsung devices.

The tech giant announced the news via Twitter giving Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ owners the comfort to now choose between Samsung’s own Gear VR platform and Google’s Daydream Virtual Reality headsets.

Google teased the release earlier this year at its I/O event, promising that Daydream would eventually make its way to more phones ahead of Android O. Previously, Daydream VR was available for Google’s Pixel smartphone, Motorola’s Moto Z and Huawei’s Mate 9 Pro among others.

As mentioned earlier, Samsung already has its Gear VR platform, which was developed specifically in line for the Galaxy series with partner Oculus. So in terms of demand, the Daydream VR may not find itself overflowing with requests as the Gear VR platform was included in S8’s pre-order promotion.

However, it seems that Google is hoping to target die-hard VR enthusiasts who happen to own a S8 device.
