Japanese automaker Honda has unveiled the 2018 Honda Accord at an event in the US.

The all-new accord has got several changes including a more provocative design, improved dimensions as well as new and more efficient engine options.

The 2018 Accord is lower and wider than its predecessor, and it boasts a longer wheelbase. The design borrows styling cues such as a sharp front end with elongated headlights and C-shaped tail lights from the tenth-generation Civic, and it receives a sleek, fastback-like roof line.

Accord uses high-strength steel in more than half of the structure, which is bonded together with extensive use structural adhesives. The materials have helped the sedan help improve rigidity, crash strength, and reduce total vehicle weight between 50 and 80 kg on the model.

The Accord’s base engine is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder that’s both turbocharged and direct-injected. It produces 192 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 192 pound-feet of torque from 1,500 to 5,000 rpm.

A continuously variable transmission (CVT) comes standard on every trim level, but buyers who opt for the Sport model can select an enthusiast-approved six-speed manual gearbox.

With three advanced powertrains, including all-new 1.5L and 2.0L turbocharged and a next generation two-motor hybrid system, this Accord will be the most fun-to-drive and fuel-efficient model yet.

The safety systems will include Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Blind Sport Monitoring with Cross Traffic and Driver Awareness Monitors. The car will also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options.

Lastly, the new generation Honda Accord will come with two driving modes - Normal and Sport, with the latter tightening the power steering, transmission calibration, throttle map and more.
