  • First-ever cyber crime sentence handed down

For the first time, a man was awarded sentence under cyber crime act for filming an objectionable video of a woman and sharing it on social media.

The convict, Azhar Safdar, who was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), was awarded one and half year imprisonment with a fine of Rs 200,000.

According to the FIA authorities, it is the first punishment given to culprit under the cyber crime act.

Earlier, the FIA arrested a woman accused of blackmailing a man on social media from Sialkot under Cyber Crime Act.

A complaint lodged with the FIA alleged that a woman named Sadia Mirza had sent threatening, abusive, and lewd messages to London-based Ahsan Rana through popular social networking website Facebook and demanded money.
