With two consecutive quarters of high performance from its latest F-series devices, OPPO has for the first time ever taken the top spot for a full quarter in China’s smartphone market, helping it hold firm to its position as the No. 4 smartphone maker globally.
IDC data shows that the company shipped 25.3 million devices globally in Q3, representing a year-on-year growth of 121.6 per cent, the highest among the top-five smartphone brands.
“We are delighted at OPPO’s continued growth, and at the enthusiasm we’re receiving from consumers in China and in our markets around the world,” said Sky Li, OPPO Vice President and Managing Director of International Mobile Business. “Our recent performance confirms the power of our core commitment — to build premium-quality devices that are tailor-made for the real needs of our users.”
How the F1 Plus came out on top
The company’s recent success owes in no small part to the consumer reception of the “Selfie Expert” F1 Plus.
The device has been the top-selling device in China for the duration of Q3, helping OPPO win 17pc market share in the country during that time, according to data from Counterpoint Research.
With a 16MP front camera, fine-tuned for snapping selfies, and OPPO’s peerlessly fast and secure VOOC Flash Charge technology, the F1 Plus has won over consumers with its innovative, practical features and slick design.
The F1s, a new addition to the F series, hit Pakistan in August.
The device has won praise for its excellent photography performance and sleek design, and is poised to carry on the success of the F1 Plus.
