Former Pakistan Test batsman Younis Khan has clarified the reports claiming he will soon enter politics, saying that he believes there is no future for him in politics as he wants to spend his life doing welfare activities.
The 40-year-old cricketer who recently took his retirement after the 2017 West Indies Test series said that the youngsters should be educated, informed and provided good environment to avoid negativity.
“Sports are all about positivity,” he said. He argued that it is essential to train the youth so that they can make better choices and avoid unnecessary indulgence into match-fixing or any other form of illegal activities.
He was at Peshawar Islamia College University with head coach Mohammad Waseem. Younis played 118 Test matches from Pakistan national side and scored 10,099 runs with an average of 52.05, with 43 hundreds and 33 fifties. He is the highest run scorer for green shirts in the longest format.
Earlier this week, Shahid Afridi also exchanged his views about politics in Pakistan, suggesting media to block the politicians who throw dirt on each other’s characters. “It is our duty to portray a better image of our country,” he said.
