Former Pakistan captain Muhammad Hafeez said that the time period after his injury was difficult for him.

“When I was injured in England I refused to play in the team. After my knee injury healed I got back in the team,” he said, adding that making a comeback is not easy for any cricketer.

The batsman admitted that his performance in the Pakistan Super League was not satisfactory, however he said he was satisfied by his performance in Australia.

He said that in the PSL he struggled with his batting initially and twice was knocked out on zero.

He said that for the West Indies series the selectors expressed faith in him and he hoped that he performs well.

Hafeez said that he wanted to play for Pakistan honourably, and any cricketer who brings dishonour to the country should not be forgiven. "It is unfortunate that the team has found itself in the middle of a scandal once again."

Hafeez had sustained a bad case of knee injury during World T20 in March 2016

He had returned to cricket some months later but had got injured again halfway through Pakistan tour to England in summer of 2016

He had also been suspended from bowling in July 2015 after his action was reported. But his bowling action was cleared in November 2016 and he was allowed to bowl again.
