    Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called Mohammad Asghar to join the Test squad in the upcoming series against Australia, according to a report in local media, as the 17th member after leg spinner suffered back injury during a practice session earlier this week.

    The team management asked the selection committee to call Asghar as a backup in the three-Test series against the Aussie, starting from Dec 15, PCB officials told.

    Mohammad Asghar Durrani is a first-class cricketer. He is from Chaman, Balochistan. He plays for National Bank of Pakistan cricket team and Peshawar Zalmi in Pakistan Super League.

    Earlier this week, 30-year-old Yasir Shah felt discomfort while participating in a training session in Cairns and has been advised few days of rest.

    In the 20 Test matches, Shah has picked 116 wickets at an average close to 28 and has eight five-wicket hauls and two 10-wicket hauls.

    Pakistan is playing a three-day warm up game between 8th and 10th December against Cricket Australia XI in Cairns before they head to the first Test against Australia at the Gabba Stadium in Brisbane which is also a day-night encounter on 15th December.

    On the other hand, the Australian squad that was selected to take on South Africa in the third test Adelaide last month remains unchanged.
