Sindh Minister for Law Ziaul Hasan Lanjar Sindh Minister for Law Ziaul Hasan Lanjar

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed Sindh Minister for Law Ziaul Hasan Lanjar to record statement with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in ongoing investigation against him on corruption charges.

Today an SHC bench headed by Chief Justice heard application for bail before arrest by Sindh Law Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar.

During the hearing, NAB prosecutor told the court that Lanjar was not cooperating with the Bureau in investigation.

He further told the court that Lanjar was facing serious allegations of corruption but he did not appear before the Bureau when summoned.

The court reprimanded the minister for not cooperating with NAB in investigation. The Chief Justice reminded the minister that he was on interim bail and on non-cooperation his bail could be cancelled.

“Securing bail does not mean that one should not cooperate in investigation,” the CJ SHC remarked.

Justice KK Agha warned Lanjar if he had not recorded his statement his interim bail would be revoked.

The court directed Lanjar to record statement with NAB. The court also sought progress report on the cases within three weeks.

Lanjar, who belongs to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), had obtained interim pre-arrest bail on May 29 anticipating arrest by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with corruption charges.
