  • Ghulam Qadir Thebo replaces Mushtaq Maher as Karachi police chief

    In a major reshuffle in Sindh Police, Ghulam Qadir Thebo has been appointed as the new Karachi police chief, replacing Mushtaq Maher.

    “Chairman Enquiries & Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh, Ghulam Qadir Thebo is transferred and posted as Additional IG of Police, Karachi-Range with immediate effect,” a notification issued on Monday read.

    The new additional inspector general was serving as the chairman anti-corruption unit. Maher, meanwhile, has been appointed as the Additional IG Traffic.

    Thebo was transferred in 2015 from the position of the police chief to serve as the chairman of the anti-corruption department. Meher had replaced him.

    Among other appointments, Additional IG Traffic Sindh Khadim Hussain Bhatti was posted as Additional IG Research, Development & Inspection, Sardar Abdul Majeed was posted as Additional IG Sindh while Dr Aftab Ahmed Pathan was posted as Additional IG Crime branch.
