The Sindh Assembly today witnessed ruckus when the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers got infuriated over Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah`s claim that the party had `attacked` the CM House in September last year.

During the session, MQM Deputy Parliamentary Leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan remarked that his party workers are being subjected to torture and killed by men in plain clothes but no action has been taken by the concerned authorities. “Mr. CM, we stood outside your door for 10 hours, but you did not come out,” he said.

MQM workers had stage sit-in outside the CM House in September last year to protest against raids on party offices and arrest of dozens of workers.

Speaking on the floor of Sindh Assembly, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah remarked that his party, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has also lost thousands of workers.

The MQM lawmakers got angry and chanted slogans against Qaim Ali Shah when he claimed that MQM did not stage protest but in fact attacked the CM House.

The situation became intense when members from both parties rose from their seats. CM Shah said no one could speak in the assembly if he was not allowed to talk. Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani urged the MQM MPAs to calm down and listen to the chief minister’s response.

Refusing to hear Qaim Ali Shah’s claims, the MQM members staged a walkout from the Sindh Assembly.

The Sindh Chief said that law and order situation has improved in Karachi after operation against criminals and terrorists in the city. He said that the decision of Karachi operation was made by all political parties unanimously. He said that the targeted operation in the city is being led jointly by the DG Rangers and IG Police.
