  • Looting cash and gold from Edhi Center, Sketches of two suspects released

    The city police on Tuesday issued sketches of two suspects believed to be involved in looting cash and gold from Edhi Center in Karachi.

    Yesterday, the Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP), Ghulam Qadir Thebo, requested the people to come forward and help the law-enforcers identify the bandits. He announced Rs.1 million reward for an informer who could lead to the arrest of the culprits. Edhi Center, the head office of country’s leading charity organisation headed by renowned philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi was robbed on Sunday morning. The bandits took away about Rs20 million worth of gold and cash. Reports said more than eight bandits barged into the offices and residence of Edhi located in Mithadar area and took away cash, gold and other valuables from safes after getting keys from Abdul Sattar Edhi, holding him hostage on the gunpoint. Police says a team under DIG South Abdul Khaliq Sheikh is investigating the robbery. Sources said police could not get CCTV video of the incident. The clueless police claim to have acquired mobile phone data and arrested a couple of suspects from different areas.
