A prominent scholar and senior teacher of the University of Karachi was killed Thursday when he was fired upon on his way to the university.
Dr Shakil Auj, the dean faculty of Islamic Studies at Karachi University, was fired upon by unknown bike riders near Baitul Mukarram mosque when he was travelling in his car.
He was shifted to a nearby private hospital in a critical condition where he breathed his last during treatment. He received bullets in his head and chest, doctors said.
Dr. Shakil Auj was an eminent scholar and author.
