  • Man in Faisalabad loses legs while taking selfies on railway track

    A man lost his legs on a rail track while taking a selfie in the precincts of Jaranwala police station. A police official said that Shahid Hussain, a resident of Mohallah Islampura, was taking a selfie at railway track when he accidentally slipped and fell on the line. In the meantime, a fast approaching train ran over and chopped his both legs, the official added.

    The injured was rushed to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Jaranwala for treatment. At least three people, including two girls and a boy committed suicide in separate incidents.

    The police said 11-year-old Hashir, a student of class 5 and a resident of Chak No 65-GB, was dejected when his parents got his head shaved for some medical treatment. In sheer frustration, the boy committed suicide by hanging himself.

    In yet another incident, 22-year-old Amina Rasheed, a resident of Chak No 241-GB, committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan after quarreling with her in-laws.

    Similarly, 17-year-old Sehrish Shafiq, a resident of Mehmoodabad, consumed poisonous pills and ended her life over a domestic dispute.

    Meanwhile, Nasreen Bibi, 45-year-old Safiya Bibi and 26-year-old Faisal consumed poison over domestic disputes. A woman and two children were killed in different incidents. The police said 75-year-old Safia Bibi, a resident of Chak No 109-GB, was riding a motorcycle with his relative Aziz, when a van on Jaranwala Road hit them. They suffered injuries and were rushed to Allied Hospital where Safia died.

    A three-year-old child Muhammad Subhan fell from the roof of his home and died on the spot.

    In another incident, Seven-year-old Muhammad Rafay died after suffering head injury when an iron rod fell on him.

    A youth was crushed to death in a road accident in Jaranwala police station limits. A police official said that a speedy tractor trolley hit a motorcycle rickshaw near Chak No 237-GB killing Muneer on the spot. The police claimed to have arrested five bandits during a raid. An official said that the police raided a hide out and arrested five bandits, including Shafiq, Ilyas, Mohsin, Kashif and Imran.
