Students from Government Islamia College in Faisalabad set four buses on fire on Friday after one of their classmates was crushed under a speeding bus.

Haider, a student of Intermediate's second year, lost his life while crossing Sargodah road, when a speeding bus hit him.

Enraged students protested their colleague's death by first setting fire to the bus involved in the accident and then went on to set fire to three more buses.

The crowd refused to let members of the rescue and fire brigade pass through and douse the fire, prompting police officials in anti-riot gear to reach the site and disperse the crowd.

The crowd was contained by police personnel and several students were taken into custody, after which rescue workers were able to control the fire.
