    Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has challenged the government decision of bringing the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) under the administrative control of the petroleum ministry, in court.

    Imran Khan led PTI has challenged the federal government’s decision by filing a petition in Lahore High Court (LHC).

    Petitioner Andaleeb Abbas has pleaded to the court in the petition that the federal government could not bring an autonomous body under the administrative control of its ministry with an official notification.

    The government did not got approval from the cabinet and without the cabinet approval the decision has been unlawful, the petition said.

    The petitioner seeks the court to declare the decision as null and void.

    Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan had in a statement earlier said that efforts are being made to transform the democracy into monarchy.

    Declaring the government decision against democratic norms he said the PTI will vehemently oppose the evil designs of the government at any level.

    The government has brought OGRA, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) under the control of their respective ministries through an official notification.
