At least four terrorists and one security forces man were killed in a combing operation in Rajanpur, Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) said on Saturday.

Numerous absconders were apprehended from district Rajanpur's Gayandari area with a heavy cache of arms and ammunition. Gayandari is located on the border of Balochistan and Punjab.

"Operation against anti-state elements was in progress in mountainous tribal area of Rajanpur while arrests were also made in this regard," a senior commandant of border military police said.

Rajanpur's district police officer Irfanullah told that Punjab police was not a part of this operation and had no details on it.

Earlier in April this year, military launched an offensive by deploying its troops, including commandos, in the riverine area of Rajanpur to fight against the criminals belonging to the Chotoo gang.

A full-fledged operation against the gang was initiated after it had killed seven police officials and taken 24 others hostage.

The military's top brass in May approved a timeline and operational details of countrywide ‘combing operations’ against terrorists and militant groups at a Corps Commanders Conference at the General Headquarters.
