    During ongoing crackdown on terror elements across the country, the law enforcement personnel have arrested at least 25 suspects during search operation in Bhara Kahu area of Islamabad on Saturday.

    The joint search operation was conducted by police and intelligence agencies in Hatyal Nayabad area of Bhara Kahu.

    Heavy weapons, bullets, 50 kilograms of explosives and detonators were seized during the raid. Eight suspects who were arrested over possession of explosives have been shifted to police station for interrogation.

    Separately, police in Chamkani village of Peshawar have foiled an arms smuggling bid. Confiscated arms and ammunition include 15 kalashnikovs, three pistols and bullets.

    Driver of the vehicle was arrested from the spot.

    SP rural Shakirullah Bangash told that the weapons were being smuggled to Punjab to be used in terror activities.

    Earlier today, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid called upon media to play an active role to block the growing extremist trends in the society.

    Addressing participants of Counter-Terrorism Strategic Communication and Media Engagement Training Course in Lahore,

    the minister said that war on terror is an ideological war against the terrorist outfits and the individual mind-set.

    He urged media to ensure that programmes being presented do not pollute young minds.

    Pervaiz Rashid said the terrorist infrastructure and the militia have been dismantled to a great extent.

    He said violence by non-state actors had assumed new dimensions in the contemporary age and many countries are facing it.

    In an interview, Prime Minister‘s Adviser Irfan Siddiqui said operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched with full power and terrorist networks have been successfully destroyed.

    He said terrorism, extremism and violence related incidents reduced after action was taken against banned organizations and hate material.

    He said 322 terrorists were executed and 1500 books containing hate material were sealed.

    The Advisor said Pakistan had positive image in the world due to the government‘s sincere efforts. He said measures against war on terrorism highly appreciated by international community.

    These remarks came few days after four terrrorists stormed Bacha Khan University in Charsadda district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and killed 21 persons including teachers and students.
