  • Rawalpindi: Water level rises in Nullah Lai, flood warning issued

    A flood warning was issued after water level in Rawalpindi’s Nullah Lai rose due to intermittent rain in twin cities on Sunday.

    The water level of Nullah Lai at Katariyan stood at 8.74ft and 8.27ft at Gawalmandi. The monsoon rainfall in Islamabad and Rawalpindi inundated several low-lying areas. According to reports, the water entered homes, located near the Nullah Lai. The authorities have also directed the residents to move to safer places. The WASA feared that around 300 homes may get affected due to ongoing rains.

    The met office recorded 40mm rain at Syedpur, 45mm at PMD, 47mm at Chaklala and 35mm at Bokla areas of Rawalpindi. Widespread rain with thundershower is expected in most parts of the country. The met office stated that Strong monsoon currents were penetrating into the central parts of country.

    Temperature of some major cities recorded on Sunday morning was: Islamabad 24 degree centigrade, Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar 28, Quetta and Muzaffarabad 25, Murree 18 and Gilgit 23 degree centigrade.
