  • Model Town tragedy: Court extends bail of accused SP, gunman

    The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has extended the interim bail of the accused former SP Security and his gunman till August 9.

    The matter regarding the registration of the case has been sent back to the District and Session Court on the request of Minhaj-ul-Quran administration.

    As soon as the hearing began, , the former SP Security Suleman Ali and his gunman Abid said that they have no link with the incident that occurred in Model Town, adding that the allegations were false and baseless.

    Meanwhile, the investigation officer maintained that the interrogation was not completed yet and requested the court to grant more time to investigate every matter related to the incident.

    After hearing all the arguments, the judge extended the bail of the accused till August 9 and directed the official to complete investigation by then. On the other hand, the Additional Session Judge returned the lawsuit regarding the case registration to the district and session court on the request of Minhaj-ul-Quran administration.

    As Additional Session Judge Lahore Safdar Bhatti heard the case, Director Minhaj-ul-Quran Jawad hammad said the police should have filed the case on behalf of the victims’ family.

    As the hearing proceeded, the Joint Investigation Team also submitted the report. Justice Safdar Bhatti stated that he would be leaving for vacation, so they should take their case back to the Session Courts.
