The Pakistan Army has cleared the "highest and craggiest" mountain top near the Pak-Afghan border, killing many terrorists and forcing others to flee to Afghanistan, a statement issued by the army's media wing, ISPR said Saturday.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that a terrorist hideout was dismantled while a post was established at over 12,000 feet altitude. "Cache of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), arms and ammunition" were recovered in the operation according to ISPR.

Special Services Group (SSG) commandos also took part in the action which was a part of ongoing Operation Khyber-4.

"The mountain top was planned to be cleared little later as per initial plan but with high tempo operation it has been cleared well ahead of planned timings," ISPR said.

The Operation Khyber-4, launched under Operation Raddul Fasaad (RuF) is progressing as planned, said ISPR.

Khyber 4 seeks to target terrorist hideouts in what the DG ISPR called "the most critical area in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata)".

Since the launch of Operation RuF, the army has launched 46 major operations in the country and over 9,000 intelligence-based operations (IBOs).

About 1,760 joint check-posts have been established in coordination with police and other law enforcement agencies.
