Tribal elders of Parachinar blasts victims called off sit-in after eight days over negotiations today (Saturday).

Normalcy is returning to the area as all the business centers, schools and markets have been opened with low attendance.

The sit-in was ended a day after Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Parachinar and met tribal elders.

During the visit, COAS said Pakistan Army will continue its efforts to bring back normalcy in the country, highlighting the security threat from across the border as the Islamic State is gaining strength in Afghanistan and growing exploitation of sectarian violence.

Army Chief was to spend the second day of Eid on Tuesday in Parachinar to express solidarity with the victims of the latest terrorist attack in the tribal areas where at least 72 people were killed due to market area twin blasts. Many of these victims have been laid to rest.

However, a large number of the victims are under medical treatment. The injured people were transferred to developed medical facilities through rescue operations by the armed forces and other organizations.
