Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai of Masjid Al Qasim has mysteriously gone missing from last two days, family members revealed. According to Popalzai’s family, he went to Islamabad two days ago and was last seen at Islamabad Airport.
Popalzai’s phone is also going off ever since his son told media.
It is feared that he has either been abducted or taken int custody by security agencies for creating a chaos in the country over moonsighting. Nothing could be taken as final word, however.
It is pertinent to mention here that he was supposed to lead a moon sighting committee of Masjid Al Qasim at the mosque today, June 24, after Maghrib prayers.
However, several prominent scholars of the country had stated that celebration of Eid a day before, (on June 24 ) would be un-Islamic.
Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet in Peshawar, under Mufti Munib ur Rehman on Sunday.
