    At least two people were killed on Wednesday in an explosion in Peshawar’s Hayatabad area.

    An explosion occurred outside the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) office in Peshawar. The nature of the blast is not yet known.

    The blast apparently targeted a government van (A-5597), while it was on its way to Judges Colony in the city.

    Operations SSP Sajjad Khan said the van was carrying a judge’s family when the blast occurred, killing at least two people and injuring three others.

    Initial investigations show it was a suicide blast and the attacker who hit the vehicle was on a motorcycle, the Hayatabad ASP said.

    One of the deceased was identified as Khurshid, while the injured included Asifa, Rabia and Tehreema, according to Rescue 1122.

    The injured also included Civil Judge Asif Jadoon and three female judges who were travelling in the same van.

    The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
