    Several students were injured when Indian police and paramilitary personnel used brute force on protesting students in Srinagar in occupied Kashmir.

    The students of S P Higher Secondary School assembled at the school premises and tried to march towards Maulana Azad Road to register their protest against the brutalities of Indian forces on the student community in the occupied territory. They raised high-pitched anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. The students of Government College for Women at Maulana Azad Road also boycotted their classes and joined the protests, which spread to adjoining areas. Indian forces’ personnel resorted to teargas shelling to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes. Many students and three journalists sustained injuries in the forces’ action. The police arrested six students during the protests. The tense situation also led to closure of shops in Lal Chowk.

    The students in occupied Kashmir are on the streets since 15th April when Indian police had conducted a crackdown on Government Degree College, Pulwama. Since then, more than one hundred students have been injured in the brutal use of force by Indian police and troops on the protesting students.

    On the other hand, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement in Srinagar strongly condemning the attack on a nomad herder family by cow vigilantes in Reasi district said that Jan Sangh cadre had declared a war against Muslim community. The Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi, in her statement said that the agenda of fascist and rogue rightwing Hindutva forces would face severe opposition in the territory.

    Resistance leaders, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Aasiya Andrabi, Zamruda Habib, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and Musaddiq Aadil in their separate statements paid glowing tributes to the two youth who were martyred by Indian troops at Hayatpora in Badgam district on Saturday. Hurriyet leaders including Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Bilal Siddiqui and Ghulam Nabi Zaki visited Patirgam village of the district, today, and expressed solidarity with the family of one of the martyred youth, Muhammad Younus Ganai.

    Senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, addressing a religious gathering in Badgam said that India would never succeed to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom sentiment through brutal tactics and they would continue their struggle till complete success.

    Meanwhile, the pro-India Peoples Democratic Party’s District President for Pulwama, Abdul Ghani Dar, was killed after he was shot at by some unknown gunmen, today.
