During their massive crackdown operations Indian police and paramilitary forces arrested hundreds of youth ahead of sham Indian parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in Srinagar and Islamabad districts on 9th and 12th of April, this year in occupied Kashmir.
Police arrested the youth during nocturnal raids in Srinagar, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts. Over 120 youth were detained in Pulwama police station alone. Many youth were arrested In Awantipora for carrying election boycott posters.
The All Parties Hurriyet Conference and APHC leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan in their separate statements issued in Srinagar, today, denounced the arrest of the youth. They said that India and its local stooges wanted to create an atmosphere of threat and intimidation to force people to vote in the election drama. The APHC said that the arrests proved that the elections would be just a military operation, which could not be termed a democratic process.
APHC General Secretary, Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement in Srinagar while paying glowing tributes to martyrs Ishfaq Majeed Wani, Advocate Jaleel Andrabi, Dr Abdul Ahad Guru and Shabbir Sidiqi said that Indian rulers were directly involved in their killing. He said that the best way to pay tribute to these martyrs at the moment was to completely boycott the Indian sham elections.
Indian troops during their state terrorism killed two Kashmiri youth at Awantipora in Pulwama district, today. The youth were killed, today, afternoon near a police check-post at Padgampora in Awantipora. Police claimed that the youth were mujahideen, who were travelling in a car and were killed in an encounter with the troops.
Meanwhile, the High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir in a report released after its six-member team visited jails in Jammu region revealed that the detainees were not produced before trial courts and were deprived of medical treatment. The report maintained that detentions of prisoners were extended without any reason. The report highlighted the issues of provision of substandard food and contaminated water to the inmates.
On the other hand, anti-India protests erupted in Baramulla, today, after Indian troops subjected a shopkeeper and a driver to brutal torture without any reason. All shops and business establishments were closed while traffic was off the road on Baramulla – Kupwara highway.
