Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred two Kashmiri youth in Bandipore district, today in occupied Kashmir.

The troops killed the youth during a siege and search operation at Bonikhan in Hajin area of the district. The operation was going on till reports last came in.

An Indian police officer claimed that the youth were militants and were killed in an encounter with the troops.

Meanwhile, the prolonged shutdown continues in the Kashmir Valley, today, against the civilian killings and other brutalities of Indian police and troops in the territory.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into a police state where police and other Indian forces are terrorizing and oppressing people with impunity.

Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the arrest of Hurriyet leader, Mir Hafeezullah and booking him under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA), adding that the way police and forces raided and arrested a peaceful political leader like Mir Hafizullah proved the fact that the forces could cross any limit to crush peaceful voice of Kashmiris.

He also condemned the prolonged illegal detention of JKLF leaders and activists including Advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt, Vice Chairman, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Noor Muhammad Kalwal Muhammad Yasin Butt, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Bashir Ahmad Rather, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Shabbir Ahmad Ganaie, Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, Assadullah Sheikh, Molvi Reyaz, Muhammad Ishaaq Malik, Sahib Khan and Ghulam Mohiud din lodged in jails and police stations.

Mohammad Yasin Malik also condemned the continued arrest and house arrest of Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Bilal Ahmad Sidiqui, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Ayaz Akbar and Dr G M Hubbi.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of JKLF clarified the statement issued by a team of Indian journalists including Seema Mustafa and Prem Shankar Jha in which they had claimed to have talked to JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik over phone.

“The team had in fact called Yasin Malik for holding a meeting which the JKLF chairman refused humbly. If these Indian journalists have taken this ‘refusal to talk’ as some kind of meeting or deliberation what can one say,” the JKLF spokesman maintained.
