  • Pakistan lodges protest with India over ceasefire violations

    Pakistan on Tuesday lodged a protest with the India over ceasefire violations along the Working Boundary and the Line of Control (LoC) by Indian border forces.

    Foreign Office's Dr. Mohammad Faisal summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh on Tuesday and strongly condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations on October 31, 2016 by the Indian border forces along the LoC in Nikial and Jandrot sectors resulting in death of 6 civilians, including a woman and injuring eight civilians, including 2 women.

    FO urged Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding and to investigate the continued incidents of ceasefire violations.

    He had also urged Indian authorities to instruct the Indian border forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit, and to stop targeting the civilians and villages on the Working Boundary and the LoC.

    However, Indian authorities on Tuesday also claimed seven civilians including two children and two women had been killed after Pakistani mortar shells hit two areas in the disputed Kashmir region.
