National Highway Authority is planning to build Gilgit-Shandur-Chitral road to provide an alternative route to China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

NHA Spokesperson Kashif Zaman told APP on Sunday that detailed design and feasibility study of the Sahndur-Chitral section and pre-feasibility study for Gilgit-Shandur section have been completed.

This new all-weather road will provide an alternative route to CPEC during the winter season when the Silk route is closed due to snowfall.

After Lowari Tunnel, the new project will be another best possible route for travelling to the region and will save travel time as well.

The estimated cost of three hundred and forty-five kilometers long road is forty five billion rupees.
