Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat’s (ASWJ) General Secretary Mufti Muneer Muavia and an office-bearer of the party, was shot dead by unidentified individuals on Friday afternoon in I-8 Markaz, Islamabad.
It was reported that Mufti Muneer Muavia and Asad Mehmood, an ASWJ office bearer, were targeted after Friday prayers in the I-8 sector of Islamabad. The armed men on motorcycles approached the two after they left congregational prayers on Friday afternoon.
Witnesses to the scene said that the two gunmen sped off towards Faizabad, Rawalpindi after carrying out the attack.
Placing the bodies in I-8 chowk, activists from the ASWJ began protesting the incident and refused to hand over the bodies to the police.
