In a comment on MNA Ayesha Gulalai's sexual harassment allegations on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sherry Rehman on Sunday said the allegations should be probed in a fair manner.
“Women do not level such allegations if there is no substance to them,” Rehman said while talking to media in Chitral.
The seasoned politician and veteran PPP leader said women are exploited in Pakistani society, adding that ‘the scale of justice should not be tipped against one gender.’
On Thursday, Gulalai alleged that Khan had sent inappropriate messages to her and hinted at tying the knot in the texts.
She claimed to have informed her father that Khan had asked her to meet him alone. She claimed to have taken her father and brother along with her to meet the PTI chief which irked him.
Gulalai said her father asked Khan about his intentions but he dodged the question.
"I am ready to sit in front of Imran and can confront him on the obnoxious messages that he sent. He put me through mental torture and pain," said Gulalai.
As per the MNA, Khan first sent inappropriate messages to her in 2013.
PTI, however, on Friday rejected the demand for a bi-partisan parliamentary committee to probe Gulalai’s allegations.
