  • Pakistan committed to safe repatriation of Afghan refugees: Nasir Janjua

    National Security Adviser (NSA) Lt Gen (retired) Nasirr Janjua has reaffirmed that Pakistan was following the policy of respectful and safe repatriation of Afghan refugees. Matters regarding management, regulation and return of Afghan refugees were discussed during the meeting.

    The national security adviser highlighted that Pakistan had always been remained supportive for Afghanistan and its people, adding that the same will continue.

    UNHC country director hailed role of Pakistan in giving safe shelter to Afghan refugees for nearly four decades.

    Both vowed to continue consultations regarding better management and safe return of the remaining refugees with the help of the international community.

    Some 4.2 million Afghan refugees have returned to Afghanistan voluntarily under the UNHCR-funded voluntary repatriation programme since 2002.
