  • Military courts: Dar contacts parliamentary leaders of different parties

    The government has intensified efforts to evolve consensus on revival of military courts as Finance Minister Ishaq Dar contacted leaders of different political parties.

    Dar and Speaker National Assembly contacted parliamentary leaders of different parties and proposed to hold the consultative meeting scheduled for February 27 earlier on February 23.

    Dar contacted Farooq Sattar of MQM, Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour of ANP, Sahibzada Tariqullah of Jamaat e Islami, Shah Jee Gul Afridi from FATA, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed of Awami Muslim League and others.

    The Minister also made telephone call to Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq seeking facilitation for early convening the meeting of special parliamentary committee on the subject of military courts.

    During his calls, Ishaq Dar emphasized to build consensus among all the party leaders in this important matter.

    He reiterated that recent spate of terrorist attacks across the country called for a coordinated and fitting response.

    The Minister said early decision on extension in functioning of military courts will strengthen all anti-terror efforts.
