Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday stated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is in London because he cannot handle pressure after Panama Papers revelations.

Imran Khan claimed that Nawaz Sharif’s assets abroad prove that he is involved in corruption and money laundering.

PML-N is trying to save Sharif through terms of reference (TORs) of their own choice, he added.

He said that suspects facing corruption charges should also be released from jails if the Prime Minister is not held accountable.

Pakistan will be saved and poverty will end if the action is taken, he said.

It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif underwent an open heart surgery in London on May 31. It was the 66-year-old premier’s second major cardiac medical procedure in five years.

He has been under pressure since the so-called Panama Papers leak linked his family to a series of offshore companies.

The premier insists his family has done "nothing wrong", saying the claims had been investigated twice, decades ago, under the tenure of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf.

The leaked papers claim his children owned London property through an offshore company.

Sharif pledged to resign if the allegations concerning him and his family were proven.
