    Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, held a meeting with Queena Maxima of Netherlands today (Wednesday) in Islamabad.

    The queen arrived in Pakistan on a three-day visit on Tuesday in the capacity of UN Secretary General’s Special Advocate (UNSGSA) for Inclusive Finance for Development.

    During the meeting today, Maryam Nawaz discussed financial inclusion and women empowerment with Queen Maxima over a dinner hosted by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

    In her capacity as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate, Queen Maxima encourages universal access for individuals and enterprises, at a reasonable cost, to a wide range of financial services, provided by diverse responsible and sustainable institutions.

    The Special Advocate works in partnership with stakeholders globally to raise awareness, encourage leadership, and foster action towards financial inclusion.

    Earlier on Tuesday, the Queen met with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

    Welcoming the Queen, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan values its relations with the Netherlands, both bilaterally and within the context of the European Union.

    The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation on her devotion to promoting Financial Inclusion for Development. He said that present government is prioritizing Financial Inclusion as a national objective through the National Financial Inclusion Strategy.

    Nawaz Sharif said that the development agenda of the present government is based on the principle of inclusive economic growth and use of digital technology is part of the Financial Inclusion. Prime Minister’s Youth Loan Scheme is yielding significant dividends in encouraging sustainable inclusive growth by investing in the country’s human capital and empowering women.

    Queen Maxima appreciated the successful march of Pakistan’s economy and reiterated support for Pakistan’s economic revival.

    Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stressed countries of the region to work for promoting mutual trade and investment to change the destiny of the entire region.

    Inclusive Finance for Development is one of the key priorities of the Government’s economic development policies. Pakistan has taken a number of important measures in recent years, including the launch of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS), in order to promote the key objectives of financial inclusion.
