US National Security Adviser (NSA) Susan Rice met Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad today (Sunday).
According to details, both the leaders exchanged views on Pakistan-US relations, regional security, Pakistan-India tensions and Line of Control (LoC) situation during the meeting.
PM Nawaz said that the United States is an important partner of Pakistan in all areas especially in economy, defence and counter-terrorism.
The meeting focused on matters of bilateral interest and the future of Pakistan-US relations.
PM also stated that Pakistan sees its relations with the US as a partnership which is in the interest of the two countries, the region and the world.
The premiere said that he is looking forward to his visit to the US in October this year as an opportunity to further strengthen the ties between the two countries.
US National Security Adviser Susan Rice said that Pakistan-US cooperation in the fields of defence, economy and energy is moving in a positive direction.
She lauded the sacrifices and achievements of Pakistan to eradicate terrorism and extremism from the region.
Susan Rice also stated that approach of PM Nawaz to maintain peaceful relations with neighbouring countries is valuable.
US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson and Director of US National Security attended the meeting.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, PM s Adviser on National Security Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to PM on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Secretary also participated in the meeting.
