Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is presiding over a special federal cabinet meeting to review the overall performance of ministries and departments۔
Sources said all ministers have presented their performance report in the session that will continue until review of all ministries and departments is complete. The performance of ministries of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Planning and Development and Railways is being reviewed on the first day, with the ministers being the PM in the session. Reports said Advisor to the prime minister on Water and Energy, Dr Musadiq Malik, presented his enquiry report over excessive billing. In his briefing, he said the ministry has significantly curtailed power theft in the country. The audit report of the inflated electricity bills will also be tabled before the cabinet to be mooted for elaborate contemplation. In the meeting, the PM reportedly expressed his satisfaction over this year’s Hajj arrangements. The premier directed all ministers to apprise the cabinet about the performance of their respective ministries and departments ever since 2013 and that to what extent the PML-N’s party manifesto has been implemented. Reports say the cabinet will be reshuffled following the review of the performances. The portfolios of the ministers, who failed in making their mark since the formation of the government, will be changed.
