  • Eid-ul-Fitr being observed today

    Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims, is being celebrated today (Tuesday) in the country including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday with great religious fervour and festivity.

    Eid congregations were held at open places‚ Mosques and Eidgahs in all major cities and towns of the country. Special prayers was offered for well-being of the internally displaced persons (IDPs), the progress and prosperity of the country, unity of the `Ummah', solution of their problems and liberation of Muslim territories, including occupied Kashmir.

    In the Federal Capital, the main Eid congregation was held at the Faisal Mosque where a large number of people including Parliamentarians‚ Envoys of Muslim countries and high officials offered Eid prayers.

    President Mamnoon Hussain offered Eid prayer at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad. Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari and Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch also offered Eid prayer with the president.

    After Eid prayer, the President mingled up with the staff of Aiwan-e-Sadr and exchanged Eid greetings. In Rawalpindi, the biggest Eid congregation was held at Liaqat Bagh, where hundreds of people offered Eid prayers.

    In Lahore, main congregation was held at Badshahi Mosque where Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar offered Eid prayers, while Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif offered Eid prayers at Model Town in Lahore.

    In Karachi, Eid prayers were held at more than 500 places. The main Eid congregation was held at Gulshan-e-Jinnah (old Polo Ground), Nishtar Park, T-Ground, Federal-'B' Area and Eidgah Nazimabad.

    Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan offered Namaz-e-Eid at Governor House. In Peshawar, Eid congregations were held at more than 100 places. The biggest Eid congregation was held at Eidgah Charsadda Road.

    Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
