  • Balochistan: Three Army soldiers martyred in Awaran

Three Pakistan Army personnel were martyred when an improvised explosive device (IED), targeting an army convoy, exploded in Balochistan’s Awaran district on Thursday, said a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The martyred army men were identified as Captain Taha, Sepoy Kamran Satti and Sepoy Mehtar Jan. Two other soldiers were also injured in the attack, added the military’s media wing.

Awaran is considered one of the most sensitive and troubled districts of Balochistan. The district has witnessed regular attack on security forces in the past.

Militants have conducted attacks against security forces and national installations in Balochistan, which has been plagued by an insurgency and growing sectarian killings for more than a decade.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has expressed grief over demise of Capt. Taha and 2 Sepoys who embraced martyrdom while an IED exploded on their convoy in Awran, Balochistan.

PM in his statement has stated that enemy can only resort to such cowardly acts and cannot face the valiant forces of Pakistan. Armed forces have shown through their sacrifices that defence of the motherland is in safe hands. Martyred soldiers are pride of the nation.

He also expressed condolences with the bereaved families of the martyrs.
