The outbreak of dengue fever in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has so far claimed fifteen lives within two months with 400 patients, suffering from the epidemic, being treated at different health facilities across the province.

The provincial health authorities’ efforts to rein in mosquito-borne disease does not seem to yield results as yet as the epidemic has recently claimed two more lives, pushing the total death toll to fifteen.

Authorities said more than 400 patients suffering from the deadly disease were being treated at different hospitals in the province.

Of around 1500 tested, 300 people were found positive for dengue virus, according to KP’s Dengue Response Unit.

The authorities said two people fell prey to the disease of late in a neighborhood of Abbotabad, whereas Peshawar’s Tehkal area has been the worst affected area by the disease.

The provincial government has also launched a door to door spray campaign to control the spread of dengue fever.
