Some 29 more patients were tested positive for the dengue fever during the last 24 hours all over the province.

After emergence of new cases, the total number of dengue cases in Punjab has reached 455 so far, according to an official.

He said Rawalpindi is at the top among other districts where the number of dengue patients was alarmingly increasing followed by Sheikhupura and Lahore.

LGH: Keeping in view a sharp increase in the number of dengue cases in Punjab, Postgraduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Anjam Habib Vohra has designated six additional medical superintendents on special duty for the patients visiting Lahore General Hospital.

According to a handout issued on Saturday, these additional medical superintendents will be duty bound to ensure all medical facilities to such patients during the peak season of the disease.

Dr Vohra has also cancelled the holidays of doctors, nurses, paramedics and sanitary staff who were deputed to serve the dengue patients. Sanitary inspectors and the nursing superintendent will perform their duties also on Sunday (today).
