  • Shahroz Sabzwari's shameful response to critics is shocking and appalling

Shahroz Sabzwari’s latest offering Chain Aye Na received flak for justifying harassment and abuse as means of true love. However, seems like the actor had a thing or two to say on the matter.

Taking to Instagram, the Deewana star posted a positive review, (YES, A POSITIVE ONE) on Chain Aye Na and captioned it, “Read you pseudos !! When Dicaprio couldn’t get an Oscar for The Wolf Of Wall Street, you all were so sad, where he ‘glamourised’ ill treatment towards women in every way possible,” he wrote.

Distressing films like ‘Chain Aye Na’ condition men to never take no for an answer However, he didn’t stop there! He went on to say, “But I understand Gora Jab bai izzat karta hai tow acha lagta hai”

Let’s get one thing clear: These stories of derangement masquerading as romance are not okay. They weren’t okay 30 years ago and are certainly not okay today. Film-makers and storytellers need to think twice before they glamourise such sinister emotions and when they fail to do so, like Noor has done in Chain Aye Na, they need to be called out.

Dear Shahroz Sabzwari, fact is that the film lost any little ‘entertainment’ value it might have had, with the visuals of those three slaps on the girl’s face. Bro, sometimes it’s wiser to stay silent and accept you’ve committed a blunder – because it might have not been deliberate. Defending bad choices is deliberate – and has never helped anyone. It might aid in taking careers downhill but nothing more…

Stories like that of Chain Aye Na have conditioned a generation of men in Pakistan, India and wherever else to not take ‘no’ as an answer in their romantic pursuits. By conflating stalking, harassment and obsession with love, such films send a message that this behaviour is not just acceptable, but even admirable.

Sorry to say, but it’s a shame.
