Muslims on Instagram and Twitter are welcoming American actress Lindsay Lohan to Islam after she changed her bio to two words: “Alaikum salam.”

The phrase is an Islamic greeting in Arabic meaning: “Peace be unto you.”

In recent days, Lohan had deleted all the photos on her Instagram account and removed the majority of her posts on Twitter, leaving just 42 tweets for her 9.37 million followers.

This led to several tweets from Muslims across the world congratulating Lohan for converting and welcoming her to Islam, although this has not been officially by the star.

Lohan has recently been reported as spending a lot of time in Dubai.

There were previously rumors that Lohan might be converting back in 2015 when she was photographed holding a copy of the Quran in Brooklyn.

Last year, Lindsay said the book was actually just a gift from friends.

“My very close friends, who have been there for me a lot, in London are Saudi and they gave me the Quran and I brought it to New York because I was learning,” said Lohan in an interview last year.

“It opened doors for me to experience spiritually, to find another true meaning. This is who I am.”

Lohan is also said to be studying Arabic.

According to a news report on Tuesday, a Lohan representative said the star has not converted to Islam despite the changes she had made to her social media pages.
