    Renowned fiction writer and children’s beloved suspense novelist Ishtiaq Ahmed on Wednesday departed from this world.

    The acclaimed Urdu novelist was the creator of dearly loved fictional character Inspector Jamshed. Ahmed passed away after suffering a major heart attack from which he could not be revived.

    Ahmed had been returning from Jhang after participating in a book fair, but suffered a severe heart attack at Karachi airport.

    The cherished novelist penned thousands of stories and novels; however his most famous and revered were the detective series and the creation of its fictional protagonist Inspector Jamshed pushed him to instant fame.

    Ahmad was born in a poor household in the Indian city of Panipat in 1944. His family migrated to Pakistan after partition and settled in Jhang.

    Ahmed wrote his first story for the weekly “Qandeel”. His first novel was titled “Packet Ka Raaz” for which he was offered Rs. 50 and thus started a masterful journey of fictional characters and thrilling storytelling, which to this day, leave children enthralled.

    His departure from this world leaves a void in fiction writing which cannot be filled.
