    Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) official on Thursday told that the 10% withholding tax charged on all internet and telephone bills every month can now be refunded annually.

    According to details, the consumers of internet or landline phones with bill payment over Rs 1000 every month can now refund their withholding tax at the end of the year.

    FBR told it charges 10pc on internet and landline bills. This tax will not be applicable on users with bill payment below Rs 1000.

    In this way, if a consumer pays Rs 50,000 in internet and telephone bills annually, he can refund the 10% withholding tax at the end of the year which is Rs 5,000. FBR official told that withholding tax on bills of landline telephones and internet connection can now be refunded by customers of their respective companies.
